T.E. VEITCH COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
The T.E. Veitch Community Service Award was first
awarded 23 years ago to honor and recognize the qualities that have been
a benchmark for our community leaders.
T.E. Veitch Community Service Award is the most prestigious
award bestowed by the Starkville Area chamber of Commerce. To be considered
for the award, nominees must meet the following criteria.
1. Continuing involvement in community affairs.
2. Community involvement must enhance in a meaningful
way the common good of the community.
3. Dedicated to service above self.
4. Work should be of an unselfish voluntary nature.
5. Service should be clearly identifiable as worthwhile
for community betterment.
R. CLAY SIMMONS EXEMPLARY ENTERPRISE AWARD
R. Clay Simmons was an exemplar of the finest in community
and business leadership. Since 1995, the R. Clay Simmons Exemplar Enterprise
Award has been presented to a local business to perpetuate the memory
of Mr. Simmons and his outstanding examples of community and business
leadership.
Established through the R.Clay Simmons Foundation,
the annual award recognizes civic involvement, educational advancement,
economic development and sound business practices.
The following are some of the criteria used in choosing
recipients of the R. Clay Simmons Exemplary Enterprise Award.
1. CIVIC INVOLVEMENT
a. Participation by the firm in community advancement activities.
b. Participations by owners and employees in civic and religious organizations/activities.
2. EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT
a. Involvement by the firm in institutions, organizations and activities
devoted to advancing education on all levels and in all areas of the community.
b. Involvement by owners and employees in institutions, organizations
and activities devoted to advancing education in the community.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
a. participation by the firm in economic development activities
b. Creation of new jobs in the community.
c. Expansion in services, production, facilities and/or equipment.
d. Participation by owners and employees in economic development activities.
BUSINESS PRACTICES
a. Sound management and marketing practices.
b. Innovativeness and creativity.
c. Awards and recognition to the firm or to owners or employees.
