January chills are here, and the first event of our 2017 event season aims to warm you up! The annual SOUPer Bowl hosted by the Starkville Main Street Association will bring innovative fare from competing local restaurants on Saturday, January 28. This year’s event will be held 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Upstairs at Restaurant Tyler, and SMSA is seeking restaurant entries.
SOUPer Bowl features a taste-off of delicious and creative soup entries, judged by ticket-holders to determine which recipes are among the hottest in town. A panel of judges will also determine the coveted Best Soup award. Restaurant participants compete in both presentation and taste, as they prepare a unique featured soup, complimentary ingredients and table decorations.
“We are so proud of the response we’ve gotten from restaurants over the last few years,” said Jennifer Prather, Partnership Special Events Coordinator. “They go the extra mile to create unique and innovative soups for the event that really showcase Starkville’s thriving culinary culture.”
Prather said the event is a great opportunity for ticket-holders to interact with local chefs and get to know the faces behind some of Starkville’s great restaurants.
Advance tickets for SOUPer Bowl are $15 for adults and $5 for children, and may be purchased online. Tickets are also available at the Partnership office and may be purchased for $20 at the door. SOUPer Bowl also serves as a donation drive for local food pantries. Patrons who bring a canned good to be donated will receive $5 off one adult ticket at the door.
Restaurants wishing to participate in the 2017 SOUPer Bowl may complete our registration form and return it to Jennifer Prather at the Partnership office by January 13. Registration is free for restaurants and includes the admission of three restaurant staff members to the event.
