Coldwell Banker brings Patriotic Spirit to Downtown Starkville

Realtors from Starkville’s local Coldwell Banker S.R.E. will once again blanket the city with American flags in recognition of Independence Day.  For the 24th consecutive year, agents will distribute over 3,000 flags in the central business district of Downtown Starkville.

“It takes our entire team, along with families and friends, to turn Starkville red, white and blue,” said Michelle Amos, broker/owner of Coldwell Banker.  “It’s an honor to be able to recognize our servicemen and women in this manner, as well as celebrating our freedom.”

Realtor Tricia Buckner has been a part of the flag project since the beginning.  Every year, she is reminded of exactly what it means.  “The first time Coldwell Banker S.R.E. put out the American flags in honor of July 4, Independence Day, was the year my son returned home from Fort Bragg, N. C.  It was early morning, 1996, a beautiful day.  Small American flags lined the streets in all directions as he drove into town.  He says he experienced the most amazing feelings…pride in his country, the military and in himself; and overwhelming thankfulness for those that had given more than he had, their lives. He also felt tremendous pride in his home town!  As his Mom, I’ll never forget the look on his face as he arrived home! It is a privilege and pleasure for the agents of Coldwell Banker S.R.E. to place the flags. This gives each of us the opportunity to show our patriotism and love for our country and our military.”

“The flags are our gift to the community,” noted Amos.  “However, we will pick up the flags that are left out on July 6. We don’t want to desecrate the flags, and we also want to do our part in keeping Starkville beautiful.”
