Mississippi’s College Town to be featured on HGTV Pilot of #HammerToTheManor!

An 1850s Starkville home is being featured Sunday [Nov. 11] at 1 p.m. in “Hammer to the Manor,” a nationally televised pilot show on HGTV. Located on Worley Street in Mississippi's College Town, the home owned by Brooke and Tom Lammert was recently renovated by locals Austin Shafer and his sister Amanda Shafer Kelley. Austin operates Fry Retool Company in Starkville where he restores axes, vintage tools and cast iron cookware. Amanda offers design services in Starkville and runs retail store Jamison Fry, where she sells home goods and authentic vintage finds. Savor our South Kicks-Off with SOUPer Bowl THIS Saturday

Each spring Mississippi's College Town hosts various creative culinary events in our 'Savor Our South' event series. This year's series kicks-off THIS Saturday with our annual SOUPer Bowl soup tasting contest. Thirteen local restaurants have signed-on to prepare and serve a delicious soup and allow attendees to vote on their favorite choice. Participants compete in both presentation and taste, as they prepare a unique featured soup, complimentary ingredients and table decorations. SOUPer Bowl Returns January 20

January chills are here, and the first event of our 2018 season aims to warm you up! The annual SOUPer Bowl hosted by the Starkville Main Street Association will bring innovative fare from competing local restaurants on Saturday, January 20. This year’s event will be held 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Frostbite Half Marathon, outside on Lafayette street. SOUPer Bowl features a taste-off of delicious and creative soup entries, judged by ticket-holders to determine which recipes are among the hottest in town. The Greater Starkville Development Partnership held its 2017 Annual Banquet at The Mill Conference Center on Thursday evening. Each year, the Banquet highlights successes and milestones of the Partnership's program of work from the previous year.
