Art in Public Places

« All Events

March 14 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The next Art in Public Places Exhibit highlights local artist Laurie Burton.

Working in multiple media, Burton’s artwork includes sculpting with mixed media and found objects, landscape and surreal painting, and occasional furniture making. Burton has a BBA from Mississippi State University, where she majored in Marketing and minored in Fine Art, and is the owner of WildRose Studio & Gallery, a renovated 1930’s bungalow located on South Jackson Street near downtown Starkville. The gallery is open by appointment only, which will include an energetic and scruffy little dog, Ripley, and (possibly) an elusive six-toed cat, Lefty. Find Burton on Facebook and learn more about her, Ripley and Lefty, and her art. Her website is www.laurieburtonart.com.

The Opening Reception, FREE and open to the public, will take place Thursday, March 14, in the Partnership Lobby, at 5:30 p.m. AiPP is a program of Starkville Area Arts Council that provides a gallery experience for both artists and art loves. For any works sold, 80% goes to artist. SAAC collects and reports sales taxes on the artists’ behalf.

The exhibit will remain on display until April 8.
