A Town & Gown Christmas Parade set for December 2 on Main Street

STARKVILLE, Miss.—The Greater Starkville Development Partnership announced today [October 2] Starkville’s annual Christmas Parade will be held Monday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. on Main Street.

This year’s theme is ‘A Town & Gown Christmas’ to honor the wonderful partnerships and Downtown presence the MSU College of Business & The Idea Shop Maker’s Space, Glo, and the MSU Research & Technology Corporation have made these past few years to make our community a better place to work, live, and play.

Serving as this year’s Grand Marshals are Mississippi State University President Dr. Mark E. Keenum & Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill.

Dr. Keenum said, “I am delighted to be invited to serve as one of the grand marshals of the 2019 Starkville Christmas Parade along with my friend, Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill. Maintaining an open and vibrant relationship with the Starkville community is a constant university priority. With MSU’s growing presence in downtown Starkville, I am particularly glad to share in the parade festivities this year.”

Spruill said, “I couldn’t be more pleased to be able to once again be part of the Starkville Christmas parade. It is particularly gratifying that in the spirit of the season, I get to be part of it with our community partner, represented by Dr. Mark Keenum as we show what it means to us to have such a wonderful relationship of not just this year’s theme of “Town and Gown” but for all the years to come. Starkville and MSU are working together as we enjoy our successes and our achievements, one with the other, making Starkville the best place in Mississippi to live, work, play and learn. The students and faculty and visitors help to create a Starkville that is so much more than just a university town, we want to be their home and that is the message for this season and all seasons.”
