When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! On Saturday, June 19th, Lemonade Day, an educational program that gives kids real-world experience running their own business, returns to the Golden Triangle!
In 2019 almost 300 entrepreneurs set up lemonade stands in the Golden Triangle. Parents can register their kid’s stand online so everyone knows when and where they’ll be open.

Jeffrey Rupp, Lemonade Day Coordinator and the Outreach Director of MSU’s College of Business, says, “I have the pleasuring of working with student entrepreneurs every day and this program is a great way to introduce young people to entrepreneurship.”
Lemonade Day Golden Triangle is proudly sponsored by Mark Castleberry, Cadence Bank and the MSU Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach. City partners for this year’s event include the Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Columbus, the West Point- Clay County Growth Alliance and the Greater Starkville Development Partnership.
Mark Castleberry of Castle Properties is looking forward to this year’s big day. “It’s warming up outside and I am ready for some great lemonade, creativity, and profit for kids in the Golden Triangle,” said Castleberry. “We had such great success in our first year in Starkville and I know this year will even be better.”

Jerry Toney, Cadence Bank Mississippi president, says, “We’re excited to once again sponsor Lemonade Day and, as a bit of incentive, all kids who participate in Lemonade Day are invited to enter the “Cadence Bank Best Business Contest” for a chance to win fantastic prizes. We are on the hunt for those stands that turn the greatest profit and have the best slogan.”
Students can even go to the main Cadence Bank branch in Columbus, West Point and Starkville, Mississippi and receive a micro-loan to buy supplies for their stand! The loan comes with a quick lesson on how credit works. Kids are encouraged to save, spend and share a portion of their profits.
