New Executive Order Effective June 15, 2020 – for the State of Mississippi

On June 10, 2020, Governor Tate Reeves issued Executive Order 1496, which goes into effect on June 15, 2020. This order affects restaurants and bars, fitness centers and gyms, outdoor and indoor arenas, and reception halls.

Q: What’s in the new executive order?

A: Changes to the curfew on bars and restaurants as well as changes to fitness centers, gymnasiums, reception halls, and arenas.

Q: How does the new order affect restaurant and bars?

A: Effective with the order, restaurants and bars are allowed to stay open beyond the current 10:00pm curfew.

Q: What will be the capacity allowance of our restaurants with the new order?

A: The new order requires restaurants to maintain no more than 50% capacity.

Q: Am I required to wear a mask in a restaurant or bar at this time?

A: No, while masks have been recommended when possible, only employees of the restaurant are required to wear a mask.

Q: What’s new for fitness centers and gymnasiums?

A: The new order will also allow fitness centers and gyms to increase their customer capacity from 25% to 50%.

Q: How does the new order affect reception halls?

A: Under the new order, reception halls will be able to open at 50% capacity.

Q: How does the new order affect arenas?

A: Under the new order, arenas can host events with no greater than 25% capacity.
