In less than a week, Starkville streets will be filled with maroon and white as the Bulldogs host their first home football game of the season. Over five hundred volunteers will take part in the 19th annual Get Swept Up! event on Wednesday, August 31 to make the city of Starkville look as dapper as possible for visitors.

Following the success of the 2021 event, volunteers will pick up trash, rake leaves and revitalize the downtown public areas. Locals are also encouraged to spruce up their homes and yards and fly the Mississippi State flag to show support for the Bulldogs.
This event is sponsored by Your Extra Closet, The First Bank, Sullivan’s Office Supply, Guaranty Bank, Atmos Energy, Reed’s, Renasant Bank, The City of Starkville, Southwire, Spruill Property Management and Starkville Properties.

The Greater Starkville Development Partnership thanks both the sponsors and volunteers for this event and looks forward to another successful day of preparing the city for football season.
Registered volunteers can pick up supplies and t-shirts from The Partnership at 200 East Main Street on Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. or Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Supplies will also be available Wednesday morning at Fire Station Park if a team is unable to pick them up before then.

Thank you also to Chick-fil-A of Starkville for sponsoring the appreciation breakfast for the City of Starkville Sanitation Department before the morning’s events begin next week.
A photographer will be going around to take photos during the cleanup and volunteers are more than welcome to send in any photos taken throughout the morning to be posted to social media.
The Partnership is comprised of the Starkville Area Chamber of Commerce, Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority, Starkville Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Starkville Main Street Association.
